Chester J. Wrona
HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Chester J. Wrona, 85, a 14-year resident of Hopewell Junction and formerly of Yonkers, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003 at Vasssar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie.
Mr. Wrona was a retired steamfitter, and along with his brothers, he also established Wrona Metal Products, Yonkers. He retired in 1963.
He was a member of St. Columba Church, Hopewell Junction. Since 1961, he was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #21 and the Pulaski Association, both in Yonkers.
Mr. Wrona was a mechanical welder in the Brooklyn Navy Yard in his younger years. He also taught welding in Local 543, Yonkers.
Born in Yonkers on Aug. 7, 1918, he was the son of Boleslaw and Jatianna Zyla Wrona.
On Aug. 31, 1941 at St. Peter’s Church, Yonkers, he married Ann Struss. Mrs. Wrona died Feb. 6, 1999.
He is survived by four daughters, Sherry Herber of Greenwich, Conn., Laura Jansen and Arlene Wrona, both of Wappingers Falls and Ola Wrona of Palm Coast, Fla.; one brother, Stanley Wrona of Hopewell Junction; four sisters, Helen Brubacher of Beacon, Irene Scholtens of Vancouver, Wash., Josephine Carter of Tennessee, and Judy Murphy of Windsor, Calif.; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr Wrona was predeceased by three brothers, Peter, Edward and Philip Wrona, and one sister, Julia Benedict.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday at Straub Funeral Home, Inc., 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, at St. Columba Church, Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
Entombment will be in Flagler Palms Memorial Park, Palm Coast, Fla.
