Elizabeth “Betty” Zaia, 82 of Flagler Beach passed away after a sudden illness at Advent Health Orlando on August 24, 2019. She was born on April 26, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Anthony and Mary Piscopo (Turano).
Betty earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Brooklyn College, she worked as a school teacher until she retired in Brooklyn N.Y. Her and her husband later moved from Staten Island NY to the Flagler Beach area. She later worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Old Kings Elementary School for several years.
Betty was a wonderful homemaker who was known for her delicious dishes, she also was a talented amateur photographer who enjoyed taking all types of scenic and people photos. She also volunteered and supported many events at SMDM church. Betty will always be remembered as someone who never met a stranger. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children.
Betty was preceded in death by her sister Mary Piscopo and brother, Frank Piscopo.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years Joseph; daughter, Mary and her husband Randy Francis; granddaughter, Nicole Francis; sister, Gloria and her husband Tony Dama and many more loving relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday August 28th, 9:30AM-11:00 AM at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, Flagler Beach Fl. Mass to follow at 11:30 AM at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, 915 Central Ave, Flagler Beach Fl. Entombment to follow the mass at Flagler Memorial Gardens.
