ESPANOLA - Mrs. Essie Mae Giddens, 76, of 80 Knox Jones Road, Espanola, died Friday, August 22 at home. Essie Giddens was born in Lee County, Fort Myers, Florida. . She was a. former teacher for 40 years in Flagler County. She was first lady of St. Paul Missionary Baptist, Espanola, Florida.

She served as vice president of the St. Johns River Baptist Association for 17 years. She was the president of the association for 9 years. She was a worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star of Hester Chapter #49 for a number of years.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. Dr. Frank Giddens, Sr., Espanola, FL; one daughter, Francina Marshall, Espanola, FL; two sons, Horace Giddens, Palm Coast, and Rev. Frank Giddens, Jr. (deceased); two brothers, Ed Mack of Hastings, FL, and Artice McDuffy, Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Verdell Holmes, Hastings, FL; five grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Viewing was Friday, August 29, at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Service will be Saturday, August 30 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Espanola, FL.
