Layfate "Big Daddy" Harris, 84, of Espanola, Florida died February 9, 2011 at Emory L. Bennett Memorial Veterans Nursing home, Daytona Beach, following an extended illness. He was born in Lamont, Florida and had lived in Flagler Country for many years.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sis. Ruthie M. Harris of Espanola; two daughters, Mrs. Marie (Ray Johnson) Smith of Espanola, and Ms. Correan Harris Reddin of Ormond Beach; three sisters, Mrs. Ruthie M. Love of Vallego, CA, Mrs. Helen Russell of Pensacola, and Mrs. Rachel Sorrells of Staten Island, NY; 15 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 26 great great-grandchildren; seven God children; and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 19 at 1:00 pm in St. Paul Baptist Church, Espanola, with the Rev. Dr. Frank Giddens, Pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the church today from 5-7 pm and Saturday from noon. Burial will be made in Masonic Cemetery, Palm Coast by the Leo C. Chase & Son Funeral Home, St. Augustine, Florida.
