THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, September 7, 1944

Corp. Lawrence B. Pringle, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Pringle of Moultrie, but who formerly lived for many years at Espanola, was killed in action with the Marines on August 29 on Saipan, his parents have been advised.

Lawrence went into the Marine Corps in September, 1942, serving at Parris Island, New River and later Oceanside, California. He went into the battle zone in the Pacific in January, 1944, taking part in the battles of the Marshalls and the Marianas. He was wounded in Saipan on July 4. It is presumed that he was again placed in action as the cable to his parents read "killed in action."

His younger brother, Ray, recently left for service in the army. On Labor Day he was honored in a service of remembrance at a community gathering at Moultrie.

NOTE: Cpl. Lawrence Britton Pringle was born in Florida 27 Jun 1922 and was living with his parents in Espanola at the time of the 1930 US Census and the 1935 Florida State Census. His parents were Henry B. and Mary Pringle.
