FLAGLER BEACH – G. C. Burnsed, 67, tender for many years at the old county bridge here, was killed instantly this morning when struck by a car while walking across Highway A1A, a short distance south of the pier.
The driver of the car was Mrs. Hester Ann Luke Jahnz, Leesburg, Va., who was being held pending a hearing by a Coroner’s Jury at 2 p.m. in Bunnell, called by County Judge Ernest Johnston.
Deputy Sheriffs said Burnsed apparently did not see the approaching car and stepped into its path while walking to the pier, where he had been working with a nephew, Robert Burnsed, a concessioner. His body was tossed to a roadside terrace; he was dead when help arrived.
Burnsed has been living here with a sister, Miss Georgia Burnsed. He had also lived for a time in Espanola.
