Wm. R. Byrd, Of Hastings, Dies; Rites Tomorrow

William Randolph Byrd, 75, of Hastings, passed away in it local hospital Thursday evening.

He was a native and life-long resident of. Hastings and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hastings. He was a former member of the St. Johns County Board of Commissioners, was Justice of the Peace for the Hastings District for 12 years, and was active in farming and land clearing, and leveling. He also had other business interests. 

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ada Carter Byrd, Hastings; a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Mitchell, St. Augustine; three sons, Earl W. Byrd, Elkton; Milton Byrd, Palatka; and Norman Byrd, Hastings. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Pearl O'Donnell, Asheville, N.C.; Mrs. Margaret Sheider, Sea Island, Ga.; Mrs. Gladys Mullis, Atlantic Beach, Fla.; and Miss Eva Byrd, Neptune Beach, Fla.; and eleven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the, First Baptist, Church at Hastings, with the Rev. Wayne Wells officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ray Crawford, pastor. Interment will be in Pellicer Creek Cemetery.

Friends may call at the chapel of the Craig Funeral Home from 5:00 o'clock this afternoon until 11:00 o'clock Saturday morning, and at the church from 1:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon until the time of the services.

Services Held Yesterday For William R. Byrd

Funeral services for William R. Byrd were held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the First Baptist Church in Hastings. The Rev. Wayne Wells officiated, assisted by the Rev, Ray Crawford, pastor. Interment was in Pellicer Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert Lovett, Elmo Causey, John Lindell, George V. Leonard, Frank Driggers and Claude Mincy.
