William Henry Deen, pioneer resident of Flagler County, passed away early Sunday evening in Bowman's Nursing Home, Ormond Beach.

Uncle Doc, as he was known to his many friends, had been a patient in the local hospital for 3 1/2 years before entering the nursing home seven months ago. He was 88 years of age.

Mr. Deen was born in Baxley, Ga. and came to Flagler County in 1906 from Chipley, Florida. He was a member of the First Methodist, Church of Bunnell and the Bunnell Masonic Lodge No. 200. He was a retired farmer.

Mr. Deen is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Amorette Wells and Mrs. Mary Ketus Holland of Bunnell, and Mrs. Myra Conner of Baxley, Ga.; two sons, William W. Deen and Curtis H. Deen of Bunnell; one sister, Mrs. Kate Waters of Waycross, Ga. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Bunnell Methodist Church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with the pastor, Rev. William L. Spicer, Jr., officiating. Interment followed at the Pellicer Creek Cemetery with a Masonic graveside service. Craig Funeral Home of Bunnell was in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers were W. C. Sullivan, John Rice, Henry Wells, O. F. Alford, Tom Holden, and Louis Whitaker. Members of the Bunnell Masonic lodge served as honorary pallbearers.
