Theodore William Kersey

Theodore William “Shot” Kersey, 80, died quietly at home Jan.8, 2007. He was born Sept. 12, 1926, in Hastings. Shot served in the U.S. Army during the end of World War II in Germany.

He married Dorothy Edwards in February 1957 and served as the first manager and park supervisor at Faver-Dykes State Park, retiring after 33 years of service in September. Shot helped establish and served on the boards of several hunting clubs in southern St. Johns County and northern Flagler County.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Pellicer Creek Cemetery, the Rev. Lois Turner, officiating. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Craig Funeral Home. Flowers are gratefully accepted or those wishing may make a contribution in his memory to Community Hospice Northeast, 4266 Sunbeam Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32157.

Mr. Kersey was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Louise Kersey; sons, Gene and Tony Kersey; sisters, Anna Belle Wetherington Whitten and Elizabeth Eatman; brothers, Jack and Tommy Kersey.

Shot is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Edwards Kersey; daughters, Cleo Kersey, Gianetta Johns and Donna Woods (Nelson Greene); sons, David, Jeff (Carol) and Joel (Sherry) Kersey and sisters, Gianetta Harding Lookebill and Stella Kersey Cauley Wells.

Grandchildren, Robert and T.W. Toni Lee, Tammy and Todd Carrie, Debbie, Christie and David Jr. Along with their mother, Debra Tice, grandchildren, Whitney and Tyler Bo, Kayla, Brandon, Luke, Anna and Brooke. Great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tiffany, Samantha, Caitlynn, Seth and Brooke.

Also surviving is a large extended family and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
