P. V. Norton Dies; Resided In Hastings


Paul Vernon Norton, 72, Hastings, died early this morning in a Palatka hospital. A resident of Hastings for 52 years, he was a native of Anderson, Ind.

He was associated with Stanton Motors for 50 years, and at the time of his retirement, in 1970, he was vice president.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hastings, and he also held membership in the Walker Browning Post No. 102, American Legion, Hastings Lodge No. 183, F&AM, Morocco Temple, Jacksonville and a member of the Florida Automobile Dealers Association. He was a veteran of World War I having served with the U.S. Navy.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, at Pellicer Creek Cemetery, with the Rev. W. O. Willham, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Hastings, officiating.

The Masters Funeral Home of Palatka is in charge.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Norton, Hastings; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Jane Bateman, Hastings, Mrs. A. J. Andrews, Ft. Lauderdale; two sisters, Mrs. R. H. Girvin, DeLand, Mrs. W. T. Masters, Summerfield; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday at Pellicer Creek Cemetery for Paul Vernon Norton, 72, Hastings, a former town council member.

He served on the Hastings town council for many years, retiring from the council upon his retirement from Stanton Motors in 1970. At that time, he was vice president of Stanton Motors. He was active in many civic and service organizations.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Gable Norton, Hastings; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Jane Bateman, Hastings, Mrs. A. J. Andrews, Ft. Lauderdale; two sisters, Mrs. R. H. Girvin, DeLand, Mrs. W. T. Masters, Summerfield; and six grandchildren, including Jody, Luanne, Beth and Paul Bateman, Hastings.
