R. Parsley, 86, Dies; Lived Here 26 Years


Russell Parsley, 86, died in Lake City Veteran's Hospital Thursday. Born in Tompkinsville, Ky., he had lived in St. Augustine 26 years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War I and a member of Whitecastle Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Roxie; two daughters, Mrs. Juanita Graham and Mrs. Sceritta Robinson, both of Louisville, Ky.; three sons, Vanis and Ganis, St. Augustine, and Garnie, Louisville; a sister, Mrs. Jennette Katnack, St. Augustine; three brothers, Smith and John, both of Louisville, and Dewey, New Haven, Ky.; a grandson, Randy, who lives with his grandparents and other grandchildren, great grand­children, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of the Craig Funeral Home with the Rev. A. L. Nelson, pastor of Whitecastle Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pellicer Creek Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home chapel from 3-9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. Monday until the hour of services.

Russell Parsley

Funeral services for Russell Parsley, 86, St. Augustine, who died Thursday in Lake City Veteran's Hospital, were held at 10 a.m., Monday, at the chapel of the Craig Funeral Home, with the Rev. A. L. Ne1son, pastor of the White Castle Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Pellicer Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bob Ringwald, Dick Vanderbent, Vernon Hartley, Bill Angel and Bill Campbell, all members of American Legion Post No. 37. They also presented the U. S. flag to the widow, following graveside rites.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Roxie Parsley, two daughters, Mrs. Juanita Graham, Mrs. Sceritta Robinson, both of Louisville, Ky.; three sons, Vanis, Ganis, St. Augustine, and Garnie, Louisville; a sister, Mrs. Jennette Katnack, St. Augustine; three brothers, Smith and John, both of Louisville, Dewey, New Haven, Ky.; a grandson, Randy, who resides with his grandparents; other grandchildren, great­grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Craig Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
