Wallace Stevens

Wallace U. Stevens, 70, George Miller Road, Hastings, died Sunday at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Hastings.

He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired farmer.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday at the Masters Memorial Chapel, Palatka, with the Rev Winson Butler, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Live Oak, former Mt. Olive pastor; officiating. Burial will be in Pellicer Creek Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Masters chapel from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Thelma Beck Stevens, Hastings; two daughters, Mrs. Ella May Hartley, San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Petty, St. Augustine; two sons, Charles F. Stevens, Palatka, Wallace Stevens Jr., Hastings; a step-­daughter, Mrs. Linda Burgess, Charlotte, N.C.; a stepson, Joe Flake, Charlotte; three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Hobbs, Hastings, Mrs. Mildred Gramling, Jacksonville, Mrs. Margaret (Peggy) Straughn, Hollywood; five brothers, C.R. and Tom Stevens, both of Hastings, Fred Stevens, Melbourne, Harold Stevens, Fayetteville, N.C., Ed Stevens, St. Augustine; and six grandchildren.

Masters Funeral Home, Palatka, is in charge of arrangements.
