THE ST. AUGUSTINE RECORD
St. Augustine, Florida
May 7, 2009

Loyce Manning Wells, 76, answered the Lord's call on May 2, 2009, and was reunited with her beloved husband, Wimbley Donald (Bill) Wells. She was born in Maxville, Fla., to James and Hazel Manning and moved to St. Augustine with them when she was 15, where she resided the remainder of her life. In 1951 she graduated from Ketterlinus High School, where she made many lifelong friends who will miss her dearly.

She was employed by the Florida East Coast Railway for 43 years until her retirement in 1995. She was a charter member of the Florida East Coast Railway Society and enjoyed collecting pictures and information on the old railcars. She was a life member of the Eland Club of Elks Lodge No. 829 and for many years was very active, holding at various times every office, as well as being named Officer of the Year twice and Eland of the Year. She also belonged to the Railway Business Women, Women of the Moose and Women of the Eagles.

She and Bill had a loving relationship that lasted throughout their long marriage of 53 years. It was made even more special because they were forever best friends. They supported each other through good times and bad, enriching the joys and enduring the sorrows that life presented them. We take comfort knowing that they are again in each other's arms. Loyce was a member of McDowell Baptist Church, where the love and friendship of her fellow congregants sustained and strengthened her.

She is survived by her son, David Wells (Krystie); daughter, Donna Goard (Don); grandchildren, Isaak Wells, Aaron Stiner, Rebecca Stiner and Rachael Stiner; mother, Hazel Manning; sister, Doris Jackson (Roy); brother, Wayne Manning (Elaine); and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father and two brothers.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Craig Funeral Home, followed by lunch at McDowell Baptist Church. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to McDowell Baptist Church (Wells Memorial Fund), 16 Bay View Dr., St. Augustine, FL 32084. Our mother was an extraordinary woman and we are grateful for the privilege of being her children.
