Robert Montgomery Aiken, Sr. passed away on April 22, 2009. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.
He was born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania in 1918 and lived in Philadelphia until 1980 when he and his wife Mary, relocated to Palm Coast, Florida. He is a graduate of La Salle University where he received his bachelor's degree as an Industrial Management Engineer.
He worked for 37 years for the United States Navy Aviation Supply Office in Philadelphia. During World War II he was the U.S. Navy Representative at the British Aviation Supply Depot coordinating delivery of aviation equipment for British, Canadian and Australian air forces. He retired as Director of the Management Engineering Division in 1976. Bob received a medal from the Secretary of the Navy for Superior Civilian Service.
Bob was a Past President of the Lion's Club of Palm Coast and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, the Irish Social Club and the Kentucky Colonels.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Mary.
He is survived by his seven children, Robert Aiken, Jr., Mary Ann Fulcher, Thomas Aiken, William Aiken, Jonathan Aiken, Karen Kent and Andrew Aiken; six grandchildren, Phil, George, Danny, Kelsey, Ben and Madelyn; and four great-grandchildren, Korin, Juliana, Keeley and Brendan. He also leaves behind daughters-in-law, Deborah Aiken, Nicoletta Aiken, and Stephanie Aiken; sons-in-law, Wayne Fulcher and Steve Kent. He is also survived by his dear companion, Mrs. Mickey Johnstone.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School to the Robert Montgomery Aiken, Sr. fund, 4600 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, Fl32137.
Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast.
