Dorothy L. ("Dot") Botvin, aged 86, died peacefully in her sleep on May 4, 2013. She was born December 19, 1926 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late James Kearney and Anne Kearney.
She grew up in Baltimore and attended Mother Seton Girls High School. She met her future husband and love of her life, Gilbert J. (Gil) Botvin, Sr. through mutual friends at the end of World War II, while he was still serving as a U.S. Marine. After getting married on January 11, 1947, they first lived in Trenton, NJ and then moved to a house they built in Yardville, NJ. In Yardville, Dot raised two sons and was active in St. Vincent DePaul's Catholic Church.
For the past 25 years, Dot lived with her husband in Palm Coast where she was active in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and served as a volunteer Eucharistic minister. Dot was bright, creative, friendly, fun-loving, deeply religious, and caring. She was an avid dancer, loved gardening, enjoyed baking, and was a skilled seamstress. Most of all, she was a loving wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Gil; two sons, Gilbert J. Botvin, Jr. (Lisa), Scarsdale, NY, and Gerald L. Botvin (Karen), Arlington, TN; and four grandchildren, James, Kathryn, and Caroline, Scarsdale, NY, and Michael Nepi, Bartlett, TN. She leaves behind many other loving relatives and close friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 20th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic church on 4600 Belle Terre Parkway in Palm Coast, FL. Visitation will take place in the Memorial Room at 10 am with a requiem mass at 11am, followed by an inurnment service and reception. The family wishes to thank all those who cared for her during her last illness.
