James D. Douglas Sr.


Jim was born in New York City on October 22, 1930 to Campbell and Anna Douglas and raised in Bloomfield, NJ. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps., married his wife, Catherine Rose, and raised their daughter and two sons, in Lake Hiawatha, NJ.

He is a lifetime member of the Lake Hiawatha District 4 Volunteer Fire Dept. in New Jersey, graduated NJIT, Newark, NJ in Engineering, retired as Superintendent of Roads - Parsippany, Troy Hills, NJ in 1992, and relocated to Palm Coast in 1993. Jim enjoyed golfing, riding his bike, yard work, and walking the beach.

James D. Douglas, Sr., 78, passed away on August 24, 2009 at home, after a short illness. His life will be celebrated at a Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, in Palm Coast, on September 3, 2009. Friends may gather in the Memorial Room from 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. and reception.

His wife, Catherine Rose, predeceased him in 1999. He is survived by three loving children, Jamie Fischer (John), Palm Coast, James (Jay) Douglas, Jr. (Sherrie), Morris Plains, NJ, Bruce (Michelle), Galloway, NJ; and five grandchildren he adored, Jim, Eric, Mike, Brandon and Brooke.
