Joseph Gauci

Joseph Henry Gauci was born in Tarxien, Malta on April 1, 1927 and passed away peaceful at home on January 31,2021 at the age of 93. He was a proud, humble, and generous man. At an early age, Joseph apprenticed to become a carpenter and developed into a master craftsmen. He married his loving wife, the late Mary (Tabone) Gauci on June 24, 1951. Together they made the decision to immigrate to the United States, settling in the Bronx, NY, then to Harrison, NY where Joseph himself built a house and raised his family.

Once retired, they relocated to Palm Coast, FL in 1989 where he became very active at Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.  Joseph was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus and an usher for mass each Sunday.  He and Mary attended all church functions and contributed to the creation of the church's parochial school and the new church building.

Joseph was predeceased by his parents, George and Antoinette (Meli) Gauci, brother and sister in law, Vincent and Carrie Gauci, and adored nephew, Lorenzo Gauci. Also, Mary's Uncle Justin and Helen Piscopo, who were instrumental in helping bring Joseph and Mary to the United States.  He leaves behind daughters, Helen Penebre (Gary) of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Pauline Bianchi (Vincent) of Ocala, FL, Yvonne Grimes (Kevin) of Sandy Hook, CT, and son, Joseph H Gauci Jr. of Tucson, AZ.

Joseph (Poppy) had a special bond, always sharing life experiences, with each of his 10 grandchildren: Jacqualyn, James, and Jason Bianchi, Valerie Rosario (Eric) and Gary George Penebre, Brian (Sarah), Elizabeth, Emily, Meghan, and Jon Dwyer Grimes. He also leaves behind sister and brother in law, Antoinette (Tabone) and Vincent Caruana, cousins Irene Piscopo Rodgers (dec. James), Rita Piscopo, niece Antoinette Gauci and nephew Lorenzo's wife, Anna Gauci.

A funeral mass to celebrate the life of Joseph H Gauci to be held at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Pkwy, Palm Coast, FL, Saturday, February 13, 2021. Visiting hours to commence at 12:00 noon, followed by a mass and internment at 1:00 PM.

In leu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Mother Seton Outreach Program sponsored by St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in memory of Joseph H Gauci.

The family of Mr. Gauci entrusted the arrangements to Clymer Funeral Home & Cremations.
