The resident of Palm Coast, Florida was born Joan Ann Tolino, March 6, 1928 in Hoboken New Jersey. Joan lived in Jersey City and was employed in the Alumni/Development office at St. Peter's College from 1962 until 1989.

In 1990 Joan moved to Palm Coast with her husband, Robert W. Holzschuh and became active in the Palm Coast Elks Lodge #2709 Womens' Auxillary, the Italian American Club, German American Friendship Club, the New Jersey Club, RSVP where she participated in the Christmas Giving Store and Flagler Auditorium functions, and served as a kindergarten volunteer for 15 years at Wadsworth Elementary School. In addition to serving in many community organizations, Joan was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Since Bob's passing in August 2008, Joan became an avid world traveller spending time in Turkey, the Greek Islands, Italy and visiting her numerous family and friends throughout the US. Voted "Most Popular" in high school, Joan was the "life of the party" always ready with a song or spirited dance step. Her infectious laugh and charming personality would brighten any room. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. One of her dreams was to visit the Holy Land and she did just before the fatal accident, which also took the life of her dear childhood friend, Aida Baumann with whom she travelled often, with great pleasure. Joan died doing what she loved. We are assured that her passing was quick and painless. She recently told a dear friend that "she would want to travel until she died", and we all take great comfort in knowing that her dreams were fulfilled.

Joan is survived by her son, Joseph Malloy; daughter-in-law, Nesrin; and grandson, Taycan of Istanbul Turkey; and granddaughter, Alexandra Vega; and great- grandson, Julian Sanchez Vega of New Rochelle, New York; Robert's children, Patricia "Tree" Hazard, son-in-law, Bill, and granddaughters, Grace and Casey of Ormond Beach, FL; Joni Hannah, son-in-law, David, and granddaughters, Ryan and Jordan of Vienna, VA.; Robert W, Holzschuh, Jr of Ormond Beach, FL; brother, C. Michael Tolino; and sister-in-law, Dorothy of Woodbury, New Jersey, and their five children and grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Doris (Holzschuh) Sibley, Lansdale, PA and Irene Holzschuh, Lake Stockholm, NJ. In addition she leaves countless relatives in the New York area and friends in Florida who will celebrate her memory.

A memorial service was held Saturday, January, 8th at St. Ann's Church, Hoboken NJ. Family and friends will gather Saturday, January 15th, 11:30am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Palm Coast to celebrate the mass of Christian burial.
