A Mass of Christian Burial for Vernile Romero, 81, husband of Lorraine Orlowsky Romero of Palm Coast, Florida, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21 at Flagler Hospital surrounded by family, will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held in the memorial room of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church before Mass from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will take place with Military Honors immediately following Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church Columbarium.
Born March 20, 1936 in Fairview, Utah, Vern was the 12th child of Lawrence and Sylvia (Mills) Romero (deceased). He attended Fairview's Sanpete High School graduating in 1954. He subsequently enlisted in the United States Army. For three years, he was stationed with the Nike Unit in Shelton, Connecticut where he met his bride of 58 years, Lorraine. Vern attended the Connecticut School of Electronics, earning a degree in Engineering. He worked for Sikorsky Aircraft's Experimental Department for 39 years--16 in Stratford, Connecticut and 23 in West Palm Beach, Florida developing electronics solutions for various helicopters.
In 2000, he retired and the couple moved to Palm Coast, Florida. An avid golfer, Vern played regularly along with Lorraine and friends in the Elks Golf and Cypress Knolls Seniors Leagues. He was an active member of the Palm Coast Elks 2709 and where he served as an Administrator. He enjoyed gardening, dancing, spending time with family/friends, and rooting for the Gators, Packers, and Dodgers. Vern was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Family was everything to him.
Vern and Lorraine raised three wonderful children: Craig (Meg) of Naples, Italy; Todd (Janet) of Gainesville, Florida; and Ellyn (Harold) of Pace, Florida. They have six grandchildren: Taylor (Kyle) of Austin, Texas; Rhys of Austin, Texas; Katrina of Naples, Florida; Olivia of Lake Worth, Florida; Isabel of Gainesville, Florida; and Faith of Pace, Florida - and one great-grandchild, Mason of Lake Worth, Florida.
