Rosemary Shusta, 87, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 7, 2008. A visitation for Rosemary will be held at noon followed by Mass at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 12, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Palm Coast.
Rosemary was born May 24, 1920, in Indianapolis, Ind., to John and Frances Mellen.
She met her husband, Chester Shusta, at Eaglesmere, Pa., in 1940. She graduated from College Misericordia in Dallas, Pa., where she studied social science. She married her husband of 62 years on August 6, 1945, at the first Nuptial Mass at the Church of the Resurrection in Muncy, Pa.
From 1945 to 1972, she traveled with her family throughout the United States, England and Okinawa as part of her husband's military service. She finally settled in Northern Virginia after her husband's final service duty at the Pentagon. Between 1970 and 1980, Rosemary worked as a kindergarten teacher's aide in Fairfax, Va.
Rosemary and her husband moved to Palm Coast in 1991. She belonged to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church where she loved working as a volunteer. Rosemary loved to keep busy. She loved life and loved meeting people.
Rosemary is survived by her husband, Chester; her four children, Mary Shusta, St. Petersburg, Fla., Jane Hill, Palm Coast, Ann Shusta (Chris Johnsen), Cle Elum, Washington, and Tom Shusta, Longwood, Fla.: five grandchildren, Amber Hadley (Christopher), Jesse Hill, Jimmy Shusta, Patrick Shusta and Zach Johnsen; and one great-grandchild, Cameron Hadley.
Arrangements are under the careful direction of Clymer Funeral Home.
