Miriam J. Tierney, 81, of Ormond Beach, who retired after 25 years as a nurse anesthetist at Halifax Medical Center, died Saturday at home.
Mrs. Tierney was born in Cairo, Ill., and moved to this area in 1960 from Springfield, Ill. She was also a former resident of Daytona Beach and Flagler Beach. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, the Daytona Beach Archery Club, the Daytona Beach Sports Car Club and the National and Florida Archery Association.
Mrs. Tierney was a graduate of St. Mary's Nursing School, Cairo, and received her anesthetist training at St. John's Teaching Hospital, Springfield. She was also a former worker for Project Hope and was the founder of the University of West Indies Medical School, Kingston, Jamaica.
Survivors include a son, Michael, and a daughter, Jenny Wilson; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Lohman Palm Coast is in charge.
