SEVILLE - Gaston William Boyett, 67, of Turkey Shoot Road, died Sept. 22, 2008, at the West Volusia Hospice Care Center in Orange City. Calling hours will be 7-9 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 25, at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home, 126 E. New York Ave. in DeLand. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at First Baptist Church of Seville, 1875 Church St., with Pastor David Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Seville Cemetery.
Mr. Boyett was a rancher. Born in Reidsville, Ga., he moved to Daytona Beach when he was 5 days old, and was a lifetime resident of Volusia County.
He graduated in 1959 from Mainland High School in Daytona Beach.
It has been said Mr. Boyett had a deep-seated love for his native state of Florida, and was the true embodiment of a Florida Cracker, holding steadfast to his heritage. He was blessed with the gift of storytelling, and never met a stranger. His most cherished achievement in life was his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaston H. Boyett and Eugenia Ware Boyett.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred White Boyett; three daughters, Denise Boyett-Miller and her husband, Cale, and Lee Boyett and her husband, Jimmy Lavender, all of Seville, and LuAnn B. Daugharty and her husband, Sam, of DeLeon Springs; one son, Mike Gaskins and his wife, Katherine, of Douglas, Ga.; one brother, Ronald Erwin Boyett and his wife, Sheila, of Waycross, Ga.; two nieces, one nephew, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Allen-Summerhill was in charge.

Gaston William Boyett, age 67, of Seville FL, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, September 22, 2008. Gaston was born in Reidsville, GA on February 20, 1941 and returned to his home in Daytona Beach, FL when he was 5 days old.

Visitation will be on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008 from 7-9pm at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand. Funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008 at 11am, at the First Baptist Church of Seville, with Pastor David Ellis officiating. Burial will be at Seville Cemetery following the service.
