She was a graduate of Miami Edison High School and Florida Southern College in Lakeland earning a Bachelor's degree in Sociology. While in high school, Vivian was active in the 4-H Club, Rainbow Girls and Edison's concert and marching band playing the Euphonium and continued to play in various community and specialty bands. In college Vivian held leadership positions in student government, Methodist Student Movement, the Supreme Court of the Student Senate and Sigma Rho Epsilon, the honorary fraternity promoting Religious Education. She was nominated by her fellow classmates to participate in the Miss Florida Southern College contest where she placed second.

The year following graduation, she was hired as the Assistant Dean of Women at her alma mater. Vivian's childhood church was Grace United Methodist in Miami where she became a very active member of the youth group which led her to becoming a leader in the Florida Conference Youth Program. She served several summers on the Youth Leadership Team and one year as Registrar under the Florida Conference Youth Director, Rev. Warren W. Willis.

As a young adult, Vivian was drawn to participate in United Methodist Women's programs which focuses on mission projects. She had the opportunity to spend 6 weeks in Cuba forming lasting friendships and a deep desire to be a Christian Missionary.

An equally deep desire was to have a family. Labor Day Weekend in 1959, Vivian came with her friend Joan Duke to visit Joan's aunt, Ruby Cade, where she met her husband-to-be in Ruby's kitchen. They were married, July 10, 1960 in Grace United Methodist Church in Miami and the big city girl moved to the small town of Seville where both her dreams were realized.

Vivian became an active member of Seville Trinity United Methodist Church serving in many capacities over the years. She found joy in being a creative and inspiring Sunday School Teacher and Youth Leader. In 1969, she and her husband, Pasco, began participating in the ministry of lay renewal known as the Lay Witness Mission travelling for the next 36 years into Christian churches from Blue Lake Lodge, AL to Griffin, GA and as far South as Maracaibo, Venezuela. Having reared four children, she engaged in many school and community activities.

She was an advocate and participant of the Seville Community Band, active in the PTA where she directed drama productions and was an active supporter of sporting events providing transportation to many young people. She had a variety of hobbies: woodworking, sewing, crocheting, gardening, flower arranging, baking, singing and many more. Most recently, she was a member of the ladies Tuesday Morning group with the Village Improvement Association.

Vivian was predeceased by her parents and older brother, Carl Vann.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, J. Pasco Cade of Seville; four children: Vann Cade (Lynda) of Seville, Frederick Cade (Therase) of Fort Lauderdale, Lala Patrick (David) of Winter Park and Raeanne Taylor (Chuck) of Seville; Grandchildren: Jacob, Andrew and Elizabeth Patrick of Winter Park and Alexander Cade of Seville; Sister-in-Law, Grace Vann of Blairsville, GA and two nephews, Clifford Vann of Winter Park and Curtis Vann of Maitland. She is also survived by many extended members of the Vann and Cade families.

Vivian loved people with her whole heart. She had a unique ability to engage young people and consider them her "adopted" children even into adulthood. She demonstrated a quiet faith that was real, ever growing, full of grace and forgiveness. She strived to be like Mary at the feet of Jesus (Luke 10: 38-42).

Friends are invited to attend a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, November 4, at the Clayton Frank & Biggs Funeral Home in Crescent City.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Seville Trinity United Methodist Church with interment following at the Seville Cemetery.
