Harry Clegg of the Haw Creek Section of Flagler County died Sunday afternoon shortly after suffering a heart attack at his home. He was a retired cabbage grower and cattleman and had resided in that area about fifty-five years. He was 75 years of age.
Mr. Clegg was born in Rochdale, England. Following his graduation he came to the United States for a visit of three months. Shortly after returning to his home there, he made the decision to come to the United States to reside. He came to the United States in 1907 and moved to Flagler County in 1910 from Providence. R. I.
He had been engaged in the farming industry and cattle business since that time. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Bunnell, and was a Past Master of Bunnell Lodge No.200 F. & A. M. He was a member of the American Legion Post 115.
Mr. Clegg had at one time served as County Commissioner, and also as a member of the School Board. He was one of the organizers of the Citizens Bank of Bunnell and had served as a director until last year. He also organized the Flagler County Potato Growers Association.
He is survived by his wife, Julia of Haw Creek; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Townsend of Haw Creek; three sons, John A. Clegg, Bunnell, George F. and Frank of Haw Creek; Eight grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister in England.
Funeral Services was held Tuesday morning at ten o'clock from the Haw Creek Community Center with Rev. Thomas M. Pinner, Jr., officiating. Interment was at the Seville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were O. F. Alford, John Rice, Walter Cody, John Hosford, C. B. Eisenbach, and Charles Creal.
Craig Funeral Home of Bunnell was in charge of arrangements.
