Alma C. Clifton, 94, of DeLeon Springs passed away October 30, 2016 at the Alliance Center in DeLand.

She was born on September 10, 1922 in Crescent City and was a lifetime resident of Volusia County. Alma was the last surviving member of the Pioneer Cowart family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Seville and also active at First Baptist Church of DeLeon Springs. Alma was a member of the Cow Belles, the Cattlemen Association and a honorary member of Taylor High School FFA.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Oliver J. Cowart and Tom Clifton, son Stanley Cowart and grandson Duane.

Survivors include sons, O. W. (Cindy) Cowart of Seville and Gary (Rebecca) Cowart of Seville; daughters, Gail (Richard) Rogers of Orange City, Suzanne (Jimmy) Anderson of Pierson and Pat (Ronnie) Ward of Pierson; step-son Max (Barbara) Clifton of Baltimore, MD; sister Freda Helm of St. Augustine; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 2nd from 6-8pm at First Baptist Church of Seville. A funeral will be held on Thursday, November 3rd at 11am at First Baptist Church of Seville with Rev. Don Dalton officiating. Burial will follow at Seville Cemetery.
