Barbara Jean Cowart

http://mi-cache.legacy.com/legacy/images/Cobrands/News-JournalOnline/Photos/0717BARBARACOWART.eps_20100716.jpgBarbara Jean Cowart, 79, of Palatka, previously of Seville, passed away July 14, 2010 at Haven Hospice after a long illness. She was born on December 16, 1930 and raised in Hastings.

Barbara worked at Bakers and Cowarts Meat Market in Satsuma, Hudson Paper Mill and the Putnam County School Board. She was a member of the Florida Sheriffs Association for 50 years, lifetime member of the Women of the Moose, Senior Friends and the Boy's Ranch. She loved playing bingo.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Wesley Cowart, father Ernest H. Barry of Wildwood, FL, mother Lena G. Yelvington of Hastings, brother Harold G. Barry of Palatka, and sister Mary E. Thompson of Crescent City.

She is survived by her sister Esther Rogers of Crescent City; grandchildren Jeremy Cowart and Michael Cowart of Seville and Lisa Cowart and Robin Boyle of DeLand; loving caregivers Clara Brown, nephew Roy G. Rogers and niece Darlene Stallings and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 18 from 2-4 pm at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 19 at 10am at the Seville Cemetery.

Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand is in charge of arrangements.
