JOHN COWART DIES SUDDENLY

Crescent City - - John Hazel Cowart, 38, died suddenly at his more here at noon, yesterday. He was born in Seville, October 15, 1909.

Cowart is survived by his wife, Gladys; one son, Kenneth; a daughter, Joyce, all of Crescent City; his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Cowart, Seville; 5 brothers, Otis of Center Hill; Emory of Dunnellon; Cecil of Orlando; and Major and Herbert of Seville; 2 sisters, Mrs. Maude McCutcheon of Leesburg and Mrs. Ruth Malphurs of Seville.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at four in the Chapel of the Clayton Frank and Son Funeral Home of Crescent City with Rev. Brooks of the Baptist church officiating.

Interment will be in the family lot at Seville under direction of the American Legion, Marble White Post.

JOHN COWART KILLS HIMSELF WITH RIFLE

John Hazel Cowart, 38, of Huntington, committed suicide Wednesday morning when he shot himself through the head with a 30-30 rifle.

He was found by his wife shortly before noon when she went to the cattle ranch. They were preparing to go to Palatka in the afternoon to attend the livestock market. The deceased had gone to his room before lunch to prepare for the trip.

The family could give no reason for Cowart’s action.

The deceased was a native of Seville, but had been living in Huntington since his return from the service three years ago.

Funeral services will be held Friday at the Chapel of Clayton Frank and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. G. L. Brooks, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Crescent City will officiate.

The American Legion will be in charge of burial services.

Survivors include the widow, Gladys Coleman Cowart; a daughter Joyce; one son, Kenneth; the decease’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Cowart of Seville; 5 brothers, Otis of Center Hill; Emory of Dunnellon; Cecil of Orlando; Major and Herbert of Seville; 2 sisters, Mrs. Ruth Malphurs of Seville and Mrs. Maude McCutcheon of Leesburg.
