Walter Howard Davis, 82, of East Palatka, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center.

He was a native of Branford and resided in Putnam County since 1953, moving here from Seville. Walter served in the U.S. Army and retired from Georgia-Pacific after 37 years of service as a Tow-motor operator. Years ago, Walter had also been a commercial fisherman. He was a member of the Roy Road Hunting Club and Palatka Moose Lodge 184.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Davis.

He is survived by a son, Mitch Davis and wife Karen, of East Palatka, two daughters, Margaret Davis and husband Nick Howser of British Columbia, and Debbie Davis of Tallahassee, and one granddaughter, Dani Davis and her fiancé Michael Harrison.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 20, at Seville Cemetery with Pastor Don Burnett officiating and the U.S. Army conducting military honors. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Johnson Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
