John Thomas "Tom" Flowers, 69, died at his home in Seville Friday.

He was born in Gainesville and moved from Jacksonville to Seville in 1985 after his retirement as a conductor with CSX Railroad. He attended First Baptist Church in Seville and had served with the U.S. Army Airforce during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Jean Flowers of Seville; son, John T. Flowers III of Jacksonville; daughters, Jean Shelfer of St. Petersburg, Linda Lee of Jacksonville and Carolin Ray of Gainesville; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Seville with the Rev. Shane Gaster, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Seville Cemetery.

Clayton Frank & Sons Funeral Home in Crescent City is in charge of arrangements.
