JOHN H. GRAHAM 

DELAND, June 4 – John H. Graham, 64, a resident of Seville for 47 years, died yesterday at the Halifax District Hospital in Daytona Beach. 

He was a citrus grower and served as Volusia County commissioner for 18 years. 

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elsie F. Graham; one stepson George Barthlow, Seville; two brothers, W. B., Seville, and W. P., Loris, S.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Lela Maryes and Mrs. Lelie Pittman, both of Seville, and Mrs. Kitty Orell, Glenolden, Pa., and two grandchildren.

EX-CHAIRMAN OF VOLUSIA BOARD DIES

DELAND – John H. Graham, 64, longtime County Commissioner and former chairman of the board, died at 8 p.m. Friday in Halifax Hospital at Daytona Beach where he had been a patient two weeks. 

A resident of Seville for 47 years, Graham was a commissioner from old Dist. 3 for 18 years before retiring three years ago. His district since has been combined into a single West Volusia Dist. 1. 

Graham, a citrus grower, was born in Loris, S.C. He was a member of the DeLand Elks Lodge and Woodman of the World. 

He is survived by his wife, Elsie F., one stepson, George Barthlow, a brother, W. B., all of Seville; another brother, E. P. of Loris; three sisters, Mrs. Lela Maryes, Lelie Pittman, both of Seville; Mrs. Kitty Orell, Glenolden, Pa.; two grandchildren.

GRAHAM RITES HELD TUESDAY AFTERNOON

SEVILLE (Special) – Funeral services for John H. Graham were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 at the Methodist Church in Seville with the Rev. J. T. Pennington, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. I. S. Murphy of Oklawaha. 

Burial followed in the family lot in the Seville Cemetery. Mr. Graham died at the Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach Friday after being a patient there for two weeks.  

Born in Loris, S.C. April 1, 1891 be moved to Seville in 1903 and has been a resident ever since. In 1916 he and the former Miss Elsie Flowers were married. He had been a member of the DeLand Elks Lodge for 27 years and also belonged to the Woodmen of the Word. He was an active member of the Seville Methodist Church.  

Mr. Graham served as county commissioner from District 3 for 18 years and during the later years was chairman of the board. He was first elected in 1935 and served until 1953 when he declined to run due to ill health. A prominent grower, he was recognized as a leader in the industry. 

He is survived by his widow, Elsie F. Graham; a foster son, George Barthlow; two brothers W. D. Graham, Seville and E. P. Graham of Loris, S.C., three sisters, Mrs. Lela Maryes and Mrs. Lulie Pittman, Seville and Mrs. Kittie Orrell, Glenolden, Penn, and two grandchildren.  

Serving as pallbearers were: Bill Ruth, Wallie Prevatt, Howard Mayfield, LeGrande Byrd, Dan Reynolds, C. A. Byrd, Woodie Coleman and Paul Causey; Honorary, Charles Luther, J. V. Doyle, Jean Mathis, Elmer Blank, Harris Saxon, S. E. Stone, Grady Williamson, George O. Beck, Francis P. Whitehair, Ralph Richards, Ueal Cunningham, Wade Wood, W. H. McBride and M. H. Ryan. 

Allen-Summerhill was in charge of arrangements.

John H. Graham, a resident of Seville for 47 years, passed away in the Halifax District Hospital in Daytona on Friday evening after a two weeks' illness. Mr. Graham has owned a beach home here since 1943 and was well known here.

Funeral Services were held in the Methodist Church of Seville on Tuesday afternoon with Rev. J. T. Pennington officiating.

Graveside Services at the Seville Cemetery were conducted by the DeLand B. P. O. E. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Elsie Graham
