Burnice "Gene" Hines, 78, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, in Welaka.

A retired union chairman from Ford Motor Co., he was born in Dorchester, Va. and was a resident of Seville. Gene was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Crescent City Moose Lodge No. 1641 as well as the Legion.

Survivors are his wife, Maxine F. Hines of Welaka; daughter, Ann Hines of Covington, Ky,; brother, Sherman Hines and wife, Sue of Cincinnati, Ohio; stepchildren, Sue Bennett and husband, Tony of Pomona Park, Kelly Mullins of Georgetown, Buddy Dale and wife, Christy of San Mateo; 11 grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Watts Funeral Home, San Mateo, with the Crescent City Moose Lodge No. 1641 officiating. Military honors will be bestowed. Interment will follow at Seville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 11 at the funeral home.
