Alma Catherine Johnson, 89, passed away at her home in Pomona Park on Tuesday morning, September 28, 1999, after a long illness.
Born in Seville, she lived in Florida all of her life and worked along side her husband growing fern, citrus, timber and raising cattle.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 200 in Crescent City and United Methodist Church in Seville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry G. Johnson; brothers, Oliver James and Wesley Jessie Cowart; sisters, Effie Lee Turner and Eula Mae Stone; and her granddaughter, Dena K. Malphurs.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph Randall and Lillian Malphurs of Pomona Park and Albert Riley and Jane Malphurs of Pomona Park; daughter and son-in-law, Edith Wanda and Walter Aiken of Palatka; brothers, C.H., Cowart and Walter Victor Cowart, all of Bunnell; sis-ters-in-law, Barbara Cowart of Seville and Alma Clifton of DeLeon Springs, Fla.; sister, Bessie Juanita Nolan of Seville; grandchildren, Sandy Aiken, Walter Aiken Jr., David and Susie Aiken, Cindy and Myron Bowlin, Steven and Mary Frances Malphurs, Cathy and Justin Byrd, Beth Malphurs, Carol Davis, Stewart Malphurs and Mike and Tammy Malphurs; and great-grandchildren, Matt Davis, Brandi, Jake, Logan, MacKenzie and Kendall Bowlin.
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be Thursday, 2 p.m. at the graveside in Seville Cemetery.
Friends and family are encouraged to visit at Mrs. Johnson’s home in Pomona Park today, 6-8 p.m.

POMONA PARK - Alma Catherine Johnson, 89, of Pomona Park, a native of Seville, died Tuesday at home.
Mrs. Johnson lived in Pomona Park for many years.
She worked in the timber, cattle raising and citrus and fern growing industries. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Seville and the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph and Albert Malphurs, both of Pomona Park; a daughter, Edith Aiken, Palatka; two brothers, C.R. and Walter Cowart, both of Bunnell; a sister, Bessie Nolan, Seville; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of North Central Florida, 3204 Crill Ave., Palatka 32177. Clayton Frank & Sons Funeral Home, Crescent City, is in charge.
