CALLAHAN - Mary Nell Lathrop, 91, a former resident of Seville, died Nov. 15, 2007, at the Life Care Center of Hilliard.
Mrs. Lathrop was a registered nurse, working first at Ware County Hospital in Waycross, Ga., and later at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lake City, and at Humphries Memorial Hospital in Fernandina Beach, as well as in the DeLand and Crescent City areas. Born in Cottonwood, Ala., she moved to Seville in 1969, relocating to Callahan in 1999.
She was a graduate of the Moody Hospital School of Nursing in Dothan, Ala.
Mrs. Lathrop was a member of Five Points Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Fernandina Beach, Trinity United Methodist Church in Seville, and Yulee Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death in 1992 by her husband, J.C.
She is survived by one son, Chris and his wife, Phyllis, of Callahan; two daughters, Laura Vonnoh and her husband, John W. Sr., of Yulee, and Lottie Starratt and her husband, Grover, of Jacksonville; two brothers, Charles M. Christmas and his wife, Louise, of Jemison, Ala., and Joseph E. Christmas Jr. and his wife, Miriam, of Cottonwood; one sister, Wylline Williams and her husband, Ernest, of Dothan; one sister-in-law, Edna Christmas of Auburn, Ala.; seven grandchildren, John W. Vonnoh Jr. and his wife, Haley, Dr. Valerie V. Minor and her husband, Will, Wade Starratt and his wife, Kristi P., Scott C. Starratt, Jason C. Lathrop and his wife, Randi, Ashley R. Lathrop, and Amber M. Lathrop; three great-grandchildren, John W. Vonnoh III, Reese C. Vonnoh and William Harper Minor IV; and numerous nieces and nephews.
