Joyce Evelyn Woodard Martin, 83, born December 31, 1931, in Four Oaks, N.C to William J. & Neva C. Woodard, graduated to glory on January 26, 2015 at Halifax Health Hospice in Orange City, FL.
A resident of Seville since childhood, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Eugene (Gene) and her only son, Reid. Joyce leaves behind a daughter, Jeannine (Dale) Strickland of Seville, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her younger sister, June (John) Zimmerman of Pike Road, AL.
Always a lady, Joyce was an accomplished musician, serving as pianist for Trinity United Methodist Church, Seville for more than 60 years. She "rocked the ivories" for countless special events in the area during those years as well. Joyce was fiercely dedicated to her family and enjoyed cooking, southern style, and homemaking. She operated the business she and Gene jointly owned following his death until her physical disabilities forced her retirement in 2012.
Services for Joyce will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Seville on Saturday, January 31, 2015. Community visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with interment at Seville Cemetery immediately following.
