John Caldwell Mayfield, 64, of Crescent City, died Friday at his home.

Born in Raleigh, Ga., he moved to Seville in 1920, where he lived for many years before moving to Pierson. In Pierson, Mr. Mayfield was engaged in the citrus and fernery business.

He resided in Crescent City for the past eight years.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Swanson of Crescent City; one brother, Joseph Mayfield of Galveston, Texas; two sisters: Mrs. Christine Stout of Adrian, Mich., and Mrs. Hattie McKenzie of Marietta, Ga., and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Seville at 3 p.m. today, with Dr. O. Lafayette Walker of DeLand officiating. He will assisted by the Rev. Ronnie MeKenzie.

Burial will be in Seville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ned Moore, Roy Long, Clyde Richardson, Curtis Richardson, Wesley Morris Jr., Andrew Nixon, Richard Hartley and Edwin Zahler.

Clayton Frank and Sons Funeral Home, Crescent City, is in charge of arrangements.
