FUNERAL RITES FOR JUNIUS MOODY HELD ON SUNDAY
Popular Seville Boy is Stricken Suddenly by Death Angel
SEVILLE – January 11th (Special to DeLand Daily News) - The last sad rites for Junius Theodore Moody were performed Sunday afternoon at the Seville Baptist Church by Rev. W. L. Brandon.
Appropriate music was furnished by members of the choir followed by the sermon of Rev. Brandon. Many beautiful floral offerings testified to the esteem and respect with which Junius was held in the community and a host of sorrowing friends gathered to pay their last tribute to him.
The pallbearers were George Flowers, Norman Williams, Clinton Owens, Othello Miles, Alvis Raulerson and Frederick Cade, all of whom were boyhood friends and classmates.
Julius was born August 13, 1907 in Seville, Fla. His early boyhood and school days were mostly spent in Seville and at the time of his death, he was a member of the junior class of Seville High School where he was loved by both teachers and pupils. He took a leading part in all school activities and was a familiar figure on the basketball court and at band practice.
Always the picture of health until a few weeks ago when he contracted a heavy cold. This lead to serious complications which resulted in his death Friday evening, January 8, 1929 at St Luke’s Hospital, Jacksonville.
All hoped for his recovery and his death came as a shock to those who knew him. A boy with lofty ideals, winning personality and strong character, he made and kept many friends, and all regret the passing of one so promising.
For the past seven years he has been a member of the Baptist Church of this community and took an active part in all church work.
The high school and citizens of Seville extend their sympathy to his family in their great bereavement for they feel they have lost a comrade who can never be replaced.
Junius leaves a widowed mother and two sisters to mourn his loss.
