Joseph Dale "Butch" Nelson, 70, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Seville on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.
A native Floridian, he was born, attended school and lived in Seville his entire life. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served his country with the U.S. Army. He worked as a truck driver for Henry Timber for many years. He loved hunting, his faith and his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roselynn Nelson, in 2014.
He is survived by his son, Rickey (Theresa) Nelson of Trenton; stepsons, James Jackson of Green Valley, Ariz., and Mark Jackson of Wichita, Kan.; stepdaughter, Polly Tasset of Broomfield, Colo.; brothers, Alton (Sandra) Nelson of Seville and Lonnie (Libby) Nelson of Eufaula, Ala.; sisters, Wilma McNeil of Palatka and Jeannie (Clifford) Mills of Federal Point; and grandchildren, Courtney (Alex) Marriott of Jacksonville, N.C., and Brandon Nelson of Crescent City.
The family will receive guests at the funeral home for visitation on Thursday, July 2 from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 3 at First Baptist Church in Seville with the Rev. Wesley Price officiating. Burial will follow in Seville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Butch's honor to the First Baptist Church 1804 Church St., Seville, FL 32190.
