SEVILLE - J. G. Poppell, an old citizen of this county and ex-county commissioner, was found dead in the bushes near his home at Seville last Sunday afternoon. He was drinking hard the night before, and was around the depot when the midnight train passed, and was asked to go home repeatedly, his answer which was that, “Never mind about me, I will never be seen alive again!”
It is supposed he died early sun; morning, but as to whether he committed suicide or not now known. He had been dead about fifteen hours when found.
He leaves a wife and a number of children; most of the children are married.
PIERSON - The sad news reached Pierson Monday of the death of J. G. Poppell, of Seville, an old soldier and pensioner of the 47 Ga., C. S. A. & 3 N. S. A.
