FORMER POSTMASTER, HERMAN RAULERSON, 76
Herman E. Raulerson, a lifetime Pierson resident and former postmaster, died Tuesday morning at the age of 76 in Halifax Hospital Medical Center after a long illness.
Mr. Raulerson was a son of two pioneer Pierson families, the Raulersons and the Cliftons. He was a fern and citrus grower and served as Pierson's postmaster from 1964 to 1917. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pierson.
Mr. Raulerson was a World War II Army staff sergeant who won a Presidential Citation for meritorious service in combat on Guadalcanal.
Survivors are a son, R. Daniel McCullough of Jacksonville; three daughters, Judith Johnson and Suzanne Harper, both of Pierson, and Clarice Willis of DeLand; a brother, Jake of Tallahassee; a sister, Jessie Hayman of Sanford; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Volusia Memorial Funeral Home of Ormond Beach is in charge.
RAULERSON, HERMAN E. - - Graveside services for Mr. Herman K. Raulerson, of Pierson, Fla. who died at Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach will be held Thursday, January 12, 1984 at 3 p.m. at Seville Cemetery with Rev. Harry Armstrong of the First Baptist Church officiating.
Survivors include 1 son, R. Daniel McCullogh of Jacksonville; 3 daughters, Judith Johnson of Pierson, Suzanne Harper of Pierson and Clarice Willis of DeLand; 1 brother, Jake Raulerson of Tallahassee; 1 sister, Jessie Hayman of Sanford; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
Mr. Raulerson was a descendent of 2 pioneer Volusia County families, The Cliftons and The Raulersons. He was a life-time resident of Pierson and was a fern as well as a citrus grower. He was a retired postmaster of Pierson from 1964 until 1977. His wife, tile former Clarice Malphurs preceded him in death in February, 1981. Mr. Raulerson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pierson and was an Army veteran of WW II serving in the South Pacific. He was the recipient of the Presidential citation for meritorious service in combat on Guadalcanal. He was a member of VFW Post .#9726 in Pierson.
Friends may pay their final respects Thursday, January 12, 1984 from 12 noon until 2:10 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Pierson. Honorary pall bearers will be: George Baker, Leon Price, Arnold Hopkins, Dr. Russell Harper, Herbert Cowart, Joe Pittman, Russell Pierson and Hubert Fryar.
