REGISTER, J.W., 99, died in his home in Seville, FL on Thursday June 29, 2006. Viewing and visitation will be at 10:00 AM Monday, July 3, 2006 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Seville, FL, Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday also at Trinity United Methodist Church, followed by internment at the Seville Cemetery.
Mr. Register was born in Jasper, Florida, where he later met and married his wife, Eugenia (Gene) Wickey Register. In Jasper, Mr. Register owned and operated a grocery store, and later became the tax assessor of Hamilton County.
After his retirement in 1959, the couple moved to Seville where they re-established a farm originally purchased by his wife's grandfather, Peter Franklin in 1912. He and his wife Gene later added a small cattle operation and in the early 60s began to grow leatherleaf fern. Mr. Register lived with his wife on the farm along with the families of his son, and three of his grandchildren where he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family. Mr. Register was a Master Mason in the J.M. Caldwell Lodge No. 70 in Jasper FL and was recognized in 2003 for 60 years of active service.
Survivors include his wife of 75 years Eugenia (Gene) Wickey Register; a daughter, Kathleen Redeker (Husband Immo) of Ashville, NC; a son, James William Register (Wife Barbara) of Seville; 4 grandchildren David Wayne Register (Wife Alison), Michael Allen Register (Wife Jana), James Mathew Register (Wife Amy), and Amy Lynn Velazquez (Husband Jack); 8 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Jasper, Jasper FL.

SEVILLE - J.W. Register, 99, of Seville, a former tax assessor for Hamilton County and cut foliage grower, died Thursday at home.
Mr. Register moved to this area in 1959 from his native Jasper. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Seville, and a Master Mason in the J.M. Caldwell Lodge No. 70 in Jasper, where he was a 60-year member. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Eugenia "Gene"; a son, James, Seville; a daughter, Kathleen Redeker, Ashville, N.C.; four grandchildren; eight grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
