By Sandy Thomas

A head-on collision on U.S. 17 north of Crescent City late Monday claimed the lives of a Seville couple and a Pomona Park woman. A fourth victim, a Crescent City man, was seriously injured.

The Putnam County Florida Highway Patrol identified the dead as Linda Darlene Warren, 20, Pomona Park; Ruth Marion Ruth, 22, Seville; and her husband, Michael Francis Ruth, 28, also of Seville.

Injured in the accident was LeLand Cason, 38, 508 Florida Ave., Crescent City, a passenger with Linda Warren.

FHP Trooper David Kelly said Miss Warren was driving north on U.S. 17 between Crescent City High School and the Jiffy Food Store shortly before 11 p.m. when she veered across the center line, slamming head-on with the car driven by Mrs. Ruth.

Cason was transferred from Community Hospital, Palatka, to Shand's Teaching Hospital in Gainesville. His condition was unavailable at noon today.
