Florence "Pat" Ruth, 72, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 23, 1998 at Memorial Hospital West Volusia.
She was a native of Providence, R.I., and came to this area after she had served a tour of duty with the U.S. Army and soon after her wedding to her husband, Jessie [sic], in 1948. She had worked for over 20 years with Miller Enterprises as a cashier in Miller's grocery store in Crescent City and 15 years as a cashier at the Seville Grocery Store. Following her retirement, she spent much of her time caring for her loyal companion, an English bulldog.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie, in 1984; son and daughter-in-law, Michael F. and Ruth M. Ruth.
She is survived by her sons and their wives, David and Renee Ruth of Wray, Colo., Paul A. and Jan Ruth of Panama City; daughter and her husband, Theresa and Rickey Nelson of Georgetown; sister, Patricia Wilson of Cranston, R.I.; eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the graveside in Seville Cemetery with Rev. Howard Cox and Rev. Carl Long officiating.
