MISS LEONA SING DIED AT HOSPITAL THIS MORNING FROM ACCIDENT LATE SUNDAY AFTERNOON; DELEON ROAD

Miss Leona Sing of Seville, 18, died this morning about 4 a.m. at the DeLand Memorial Hospital as the result of injuries sustained last evening when the car which she was driving was struck by the car driven by Will Robinson, negro, of DeLeon Springs. The accident occurred on the highway between DeLand and DeLeon Springs at a point known as Kirchof's corner where the main highway and the Glenwood road meet. Mr. Mew, also of Seville, who was with Miss Sing, is reported this morning as recovering from the injuries received by him. All occupants of the Robinson car are recovering from the accident although some were badly hurt.

According to reports given today, Miss Sing was travelling north on the main highway while Robinson and his party was coming from the west. It was stated that Miss Sing was driving at a speed of about 20 miles an hour while witnesses state that Robinson was traveling at a much faster rate, without any heed to stop signs which have been placed at that point by the state road department. Robinson is said to have come down the slight grade towards the main highway, gaining speed at every moment.

After colliding, the ears stopped against the Kirehof garage, it was stated today. Miss Sing being thrown from the car against the building.

Occupants of both ears were brought to this city immediately and taken to the hospital. Extent of Miss Sing’s injuries that resulted in her death has not yet been established. She was in an unconscious condition when picked up and never regained her senses. She suffered a fractured skull and death is believed to have been due to concussion of the brain.

Will Robinson, who is being held in the Volusia County Jail pending investigation, was said to be hurt more seriously than any of the other occupants of the car which he was driving. He was accompanied by his wife, Martha, Ella Robinson, Sarah Williams, and Charlie Brown.

Miss Sing has resided in Seville with her parents for a number of' years, coming to that town from Conway, South Carolina.

She is survived by her mother and 4 brothers who reside in Seville. Funeral will be held at the cemetery in Seville tomorrow afternoon at five. J. A. Allen in charge.
