Born in Patterson, GA, where she grew up and eventually moved to Jacksonville, FL. She had lived in Flagler County since 1969. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. Janet loved listening to music, cooking, laughing, and taking care of her family. She touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.

She was one of three children born to the late Mary Elizabeth and Andrew Edward Cooler and was the beloved wife of Stephen Lavon Tanner for 57 years. She is survived by her husband; two sons, Larry (Carolyne) and Stephen Jr., Bunnell; three daughters, Wanda Bray, Bunnell, Teresa Padgett (Tom), DeLand and Cynthia Kearce (Dennis), Christman, FL; one brother, Oscar Cooler, Lutz, FL; and one sister, Marion Newsome of Tampa; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tanner will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, 9-24-09 in the Biggs Memorial Chapel with Rev. Howard Cox officiating. Interment will follow in the Seville Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6 until 8 Wednesday night at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the wonderful people who gave such wonderful care to Janet at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, 150 Memorial Medical Parkway, Palm Coast, FL 32164.
