Petra Labaguis Buenaventura, Palm Coast, died peacefully June 15, 2005, at her home. There will be a visitation from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 25, and a prayer service to begin at 5:30 p.m. with the Rev. Sebastian Kaithamattom as celebrant, at Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast. Petra was born May19, 1929, in Mogpog, Marinduque, Philippines, to Andres and Isidra Labaguis.
She started coming to the U.S. in 1959 and settled in Chicago, Ill., where she worked as a nurse until her retirement around 1995, when she moved to Palm Coast. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and the Philippine-American Association of Palm Coast. Petra will be remembered for her love and concern she showed by caring for those around her, and for her giving nature and aid she sent to those less fortunate than her in the Philippines.
Petra was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 29 years, Manuel; as well as all of her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Rosario and Betty Labaguis; and by her numerous nephews and nieces, including Carmelita and Elmar Yuzon, Arnold and Linda Yuzon and Malou Chatterji. Petra will be laid to rest following the services in her native Philippines.
Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast.
