Mary Margaret (Peggy) Fugelsang, passed away on August 20 in Asheville, NC. Peg was born on February 8, 1934 to Mary Margaret and James C. Shank in Roanoke, VA. Following high school, Peg joined the Daughters of Wisdom and was then known as Sister Damien.

She studied at Maryview Hospital School of Nursing and later worked at Holy Family Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. She went on to spend years as a nurse in Malawi Africa before leaving the Daughters (but not nursing) to marry John J. (Jack) Fugelsang, the love of her life, who died in 2010. She follows her Jack to where she knows he is.

Peg is survived by her sister Dorothy Majewski; her brother Robert Shank; her cherished sons and their families: John, Charmien, and Henry Jack Fugelsang of New York City, Brian Fugelsang of Berkeley, CA, and Paul, Elaine, and Endy Fugelsang of Asheville; and a loving circle of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends at Craig Flagler Palms Funeral Home in Flagler Beach, FL on Tuesday 23 August from 6-8pm.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Palm Coast FL. on Wednesday 24 August at 2pm. A private burial will be held at St. Mary Cemetery in Korona, Florida, following the funeral mass.
