William J. Hicks Sr., 56, John Anderson Highway, Flagler Beach, died October 9 at Gainsville.

He was born in New York City and moved to Flagler Beach 4 years ago from Ormand Beach, Florida. He was a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis; a son, William Jr., Groton, Conn.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Alice Walsh, Bergenfield, N.J.; and Mrs. Doris Urey, Wapinger Falls, N.Y.; a brother, Gilbert, Bronx, N.Y.; and 2 grandchildren.

Military graveside services were conducted by DAV Chapter No. 86 at St. Mary's Cemetary, Korona Saturday morning at 9;00. The Rev. Lester Stanton officiated.

Pallbearers were Charles Donahue, Harold Higgenbotham, Floyd Hurl, Gilbert Krier, John Lutton and Andrew Zalewski.
