PALM COAST - Virginia Best Jones, 89, of Cardinal Court, who retired as an elementary teacher, in New York and New Jersey after 40 years of service, died Thursday at home.

Mrs. Jones was born in Albany, N.Y., and moved to this area in 1972 from Cranford, N.J. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. Michael's Catholic churches and the Palm Harbor Country Club. She golfed with the Niners and Scramblers. She enjoyed gardening and traveling.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Paul; a son, Peter, Dana Point, Calif.; a daughter, Pamela Jones, Palm Coast; and three grandchildren.
