Jean C. Kohler, 91, passed away on June 19, 2018. She was born on April 8, 1927 in New York City to William James Childs and Anna Mitchell Childs. Jean grew up on the Grand Concourse and married Adam (Frank) Kohler on February 2, 1952. After Adam, their first son, was born in 1953, they moved to Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York, and Mom converted to Catholicism under Monsignor Downing. Jean and Frank were both active members of St. Brendan Church in Brooklyn. Later, the family moved to River Edge, New Jersey. They both involved themselves in church affairs at St. Peter the Apostle Church and jointed the Franciscan Order. She was also a volunteer in the Meals on Wheels Program. 

In 1994, they retired to live in Palm Coast, Florida, and were members of Mother Seton Catholic Church in Palm Coast and very active in the Franciscan Order. She lived in Easley, SC with her son Jim (Gloria) for 3 ½ years. In 2011, Jean relocated to Titusville to be near family. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mims. 

Jean is survived by her sister, Joan Swanson, of Ho Ho Kus, New Jersey, and four of her children, Adam F. Kohler (Karen) of Titusville, Kathleen K. Maida of Titusville; James W. Kohler (Gloria) of Easley, South Carolina; and AnneMarie Kohler of Daytona Beach. She is predeceased by her husband, Adam F. Kohler, Sr., and youngest daughter, Virginia (Ginger) Ronda Smith. Jean had 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. 

The calling hours will be Friday, June 22, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at North Brevard Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Saturday, June 23. Burial will follow in St Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Bunnell, FL.
