A memorial service celebrating the life of Lucy O. Markowski, 84, of Palm Coast, who passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, will be held on Monday, August 31, 2009 at 1:30 pm at the Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Rd. S., Flagler Beach, FL. Family and friends may gather from 12:30 pm until the 1:30 pm service time in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow the memorial service at the St. Mary Cemetery, Korona, FL.
Lucy was born on August 25, 1924 in Glen Ridge, NJ to the late Robert Wesley Outwater and Lucille (Warden) Outwater. She was US Navy, World War II veteran, where she was a Link Trainer and Instructor. Lucy worked as a Service Consultant and she was a reputable Antique Dealer.
Lucy was a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She moved to Palm Coast in 1975, coming from New Jersey. Lucy is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, John Markowski of Palm Coast. Additional survivors include her son, John Markowski and his wife, Marlene of Midland Park, NJ; son, Robert Markowski of Philadelphia, PA; daughter, Patricia Pasternak and her husband, Paul of Palm Coast; daughter, Cecelia Handza and her husband, Thomas of Vorheez, NJ; son, Michael Markowski and his wife, Virginia of Palm Coast; daughter, Lucy Avellar and her husband, David of Palm Coast; daughter, Mary Markowski of Palm Coast; her three sisters, Mary Faber of Sarasota; Tillie Anniston of Sarasota; and Roberta Dannic of Englewood, FL; her 18 grandchildren; her 14 great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, Billy.
Lucy was preceded in death by her daughter, Katherine McCarthy and Katherine's husband, Robert E. McCarthy and her sister, Pat Hoxey.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Lucy to the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, 1500 Memorial Medical Parkway, Palm Coast, FL 32164.
